Haris Meidanis new book : The Private International Law of Commercial Mediation.

The new book of our managing partner Haris Meidanis has just been published by Nomiki Bibliothiki and Stämpfli Verlag. The book discusses venue, applicable law and enforcement in international commercial mediation. It offers answers to most practical legal questions that may arise in an international mediation setting, it examines the most recent challenging legislative and academic developments and offers new theories or ideas in the field. 

Among these are: 

–             the ‘hybrid legal nature’ of the mediated settlement agreement,

–             the related theory of the inherent binding effect and enforceability such agreement may have,

–             the notion of the ‘legal shell’ of mediation,

–             the idea of the non-existence of forum in mediation,

–             the notion of ‘lex mediationis’. 

This book is a must read for academics, for research and teaching, and for practitioners, to find assistance in their international mediation practice.
